Making a digital print black and white

I've had a really hard time converting digital pictures into black and white ones for quite some time. Finally today I put my mind to it, and this is my attempt.

This was a test shoot for tomorrow when I'll be shooting Adam and Dave's Bloodline, a local band in Philadelphia. They expressed that they liked the work of Richard Avedon. I also love Avedon's work, and my showing how much I love it, I mimicked him. Here's to you, Mr. R. Avedon.
